EH&S enhances ISU students' safety knowledge through special events such as Campus Fire Safety Day, interaction via social media sites, and mentoring outside the classroom.
Campus Fire Safety Day is a collaborative effort between EH&S and the Ames Fire Department teaching students about fire safety and providing hands-on fire extinguisher training.
EH&S staff supports and mentors students gathering data from eight campus water monitoring sites. The purpose? To monitor if water quality is impacted as it moves through the ISU campus. We provide sampling kits to the students and instruct them on proper and safe water sampling techniques. This program provides an excellent opportunity for students to interact and learn from professionals in their field of study.
